This is was the second workshop on image development and music publicity that I got to give in Switzerland. This time, the kind folks from the Schweizer Musik Syndikat joined up with ZHDK, the prestigious art and music institute based in Zurich. I had a very nice, mixed group of professional musicians and music students. They pretty much covered the whole musical spectrum: metal, pop, jazz, classical, experimental and soul. Some of the key topics that I talked about this time included: defining key narratives for a project/record, translating these narratives into visual tools, developing visual tools to support a PR strategy, creative packaging and merch, use of new media technologies in PR. We finished the workshop off by discussing the projects of all of the participating musicians, with an emphasis on solving particular “problems” that they were trying to overcome.

Next to creating, teaching is one of my greatest joys!
